1910.213(p)(4) – Guarding Requirements for Belt Sanding Machines

OSHA 1910.213(p)(4) requires belt sanding machines to have guards at each nip point where the sanding belt meets a pulley and to enclose the unused run of the belt. These guards must effectively prevent operator contact with moving belts and pulleys.
